The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever. Click here to watch the full show.

Hi,

Great blog !!

I just find the story of stuff to be a bit too simplistic (e.g. the computer example given is way too basic and downplays the huge technological advances made).

Is it anti-technology?

I agree that we need to change our ways but just wonder if this 'story' is too oversimplistic and misleading.

Welcome to the blog and thanks for the comment.

True the story of stuff is simple. Keep in mind that it is presented to a general crowd, many of whom do not have a background in their own consumption. It is more of a general introduction to inform in a non-threatening or "preachy" way.

I would venture to say that it is not meant to be anti-technology, but to question the over consumption that is consciously produced through perceived obsolescence and corporate greed.
